It was not allowed to take photos inside - well, you could but at a cost; 20,000 yen or $200!!!!! Once upon a time many Shinto Shrines had a connection to fertility rites. Lots of phalluses in the grounds and the museum is packed with anthropological erotica. And pictures!!!!! Say no more.
Then it was to one of the largest stone Torii ...

... looked like a parking lot to some shop. I ran after the car and a man was just getting out and waved his arm for me to follow him. We ran into the shop and a woman who was standing there waiting locked the door behind us. We stared at the weather. We giggled. Awed but slightly nervous. We waited. Somehow we managed to chat a little bit tho no word of English was spoken. And I made my first joke ever in Japanese. The guy laughed out loud and it was all so very surreal. ...

... not this time. The drive was a long one filled with a few pit stops, petting sessions, elbow licking, and sing-alongs. Arriving at our meeting point, Kochi did not want to get out of the car. I took her on a short walk and spent the last few minutes with her sitting and trying to convince her that this was best for her. When it came time to say goodbye…it took some pulling of the leash and pushing of the bum to get her in the other ...
