Still alive, we traveled back to Salzburg slowly, walked the river by night and checked out the cathedral all while consuming pumpkin soup, chocolate, apple strudel and coffee.
We had heard the salt mine tours were a fun time, so we walked back to the train station and bought the "salt ticket." This allowed us to ride the train and then bus to get to the attraction, got us into the tour, and then worked for transportation home as well. It was highly convenient!
When we got there we were given white coveralls to wear while on the tour. First we rode on a little train-thing, straddling the seat and sitting each person behind the next (like when ...
... this cave of limestone. And its really steep. I had a hard time trying to look up at the ice and not at the stairs lol. The caves reminded me of ... well lets just leave it at star wars/ lord of the rings.. we all know how nerdy i am anyways. Really glad we came on this tour though... its nothing like ive ever seen or done before, plus we got to do some good hiking (that makes up for all the chocolate ive been eating!) Calm rest of the day :D
The next morning we made our way to the famous Salz Welten (salt mines) of Hallein. It was something my Grandmother's husband’s daughter, Marianne (figure that one out) suggested we do while in the area and so we thought it might be fun. We were given white pants and a white shirt to wear over our clothes (note, much fun wearing oversized pants over a poufy skirt…try it ...
