After the first couple of hours escaping Santander (in a saner way than I had entered it), most of the rest of the day was on moderate-use highways, usually with a good shoulder, but still not ideal. The topography was growing more extreme, but I was a bit confined by the roads to see all of the views. Still, I did pass a number of gorgeous places and today has some very nice photos.

It was really steep, but it was winding through the trees, up the mountain, and every now and then we would get an amazing view of Oviedo and the mountains in the distance. After Covadonga, we went to the little town nearby called Cangas de Onis. It had this really old stone bridge which was pretty and had the mountains in the background. Then we walked around town for a bit looking at shops and this old church. We're going to try to plan a trip to the mountains and go canoeing, hiking, or even rafting.
