16/5.Another day, another mountain. After another lovely drive through valleys and narrow mountain roads arrived at our Parador de Fuente de in the Picos de Europa. Even Guy was surprised by these mountains. - huge rock faces - not much vegetation - snow still on the high peaks- but so majestic you couldn't take your eyes off them. The next day consisted of a 24 km round trip ...

I wasn't completely disappointed however, as there were donkeys, and generously nourished donkeys at that. So many donkeys in fact that our travelling game "My Horse" (you see a horse, you say 'MY HORSE' and you get to keep that horse) evolved into ...

... raw, beauty, and
at times the snowcapped, jagged peaks came out from the clouds.
Incredible seeing the ancient little famrhouses around, how they
survive out here! After a while it was time to head back...alllll the
way down (thankgoodness we didn't attempt uphill...it was lethal).
Ella did a good chunk of walking but eventually Dan took her on his
shoulders (otherwise we would be there for days!) ...
