After that earthquake of disappointment I told the guy that I appreciated his help but he could go along his merry little way, and I'll figure it out. I came back to where the boat docked and there was a big hotel that seems to be a chain in Norway. I go to the front desk and asked her if she knews of any cheaper places to stay in town and if not, what's their cheapest room for the night. She makes some calls and found ...

Ok it's painful paying $15 for a red wine or a beer, but we just limited ourselves to a glass and it was fine. ... out. Early acculturation is essential this far north. No such thing as early to bed and early to rise. And, if you need an early kaffe to kick start the day, then survival skills are elementary, or you brew your own. We were very fortunate, however, today. The cafe at the Climbing and Skiing School had opened specially to breakfast and kaffe a group of telemark skiers. The proprietress was delighted to add our need to her darg and made us an excellent cappacino. The telemarkers were ...

How to lose your baggage tag and not worry at all!

... raised from 1 to 9.9 by Richard having become "separated" from his baggage tag. We advised we'd wait until the next flight even though the shiny and bright lass assured us that she would forward our luggage to Svolvaer 'for free' but (looking me directly in the eye) 'you will have to go the airport to pick it up'. Being separated from your luggage tag is amongst the most heinous of criminal acts anywhere of course, but doubly so in ...
