Our time in Italy is coming to an end. We reluctantly left the Lake Como area and an hour later our train pulls in to Milan - our final Italian City.

Milan is an industrial city, a hub for the fashion industry and banking. Unlike the rest of Italy, establishments stay open all day and workers take short lunch breaks …

We had a relatively quiet start to this morning as our walking tour did not start until 10.30. This gave us time to shower, pack, breakfast, vibes mums ( mum S was not answering) and Bethany. It is lovely to hear some news from home. We arrived punctually as that's how we roll and the guide did not turn up. A few others were there waiting as well. ... much to Oliver's delight.

We reached Como at about 5pm, and checked into our hotel. That left us time to walk down to the quay, have a drink at a cafe popular with the local sparrows, and wend our way to a delightful restaurant round the corner from the hotel. A short walk along the lakeside helped us to digest it all, before finishing with a bottle of wine watching the busy Saturday nightlife from our room's ...

This morning we set off together on the Metro but, while John continued to the Conference Centre, I got off earlier to visit the Brera Gallery and the Castello Sforzesco Fontana. Robyn had told me that the Brera was a "must see". This grand Castle in the centre of the city still has all the elements of a fortified medieval castle complete with moat, drawbridge, catapults, suits of armour ...
