... Can't see much from this hotel, but tomorrow we shall Romeo and Juliet to our hearts content.

Epilogue: Connor was just watching tv and there on the screen, coming to us live from Milan, is a huge open air rock concert. Right in front of the Duomo. That explains all the sound equipment we saw in the cathedral today - we had just through they got big crowds there for mass. Lucky we didn't get caught in that - methinks the Aunties would not have been impressed

... in the town square, on the sides of roads and under hotels. All very charming.
After a morning coffee, we headed back to the hotel for lunch and a siesta. Later that afternoon we went for a walk about the streets near our hotel, and then ate a good Italian meal at a local restaurant. There is a park with dirt tracks just 200m or so from our apartment which we have used for all our running so far. Today we had our best training experience with DDS so far. We went to Stresa in the shores of Lago Maggiore with other athletes who were doing a race. First we rode a loop along Lago Maggiore, across to Lago d'Orta, along Lago d'Orta and then back to Lago Maggiore. It was ...

... we didn't get to because the boats that go that far up (about 45 mins) only depart in the morning. However we did get to see the towns of Torno and Cernobbio, which are both very colorful and scenic.

In Torno, we decided to do a bit of hiking, so that we could get a nice view of the lakes and mountains. The hike started off nicely, but halfway up, we realized that (1) the trails got steeper, narrower and rockier, (2) the top of the mountain/roads ...

... We stopped for lunch where we had the special of the day: tortellini filled with meat and covered in bacon and butter. It was flavoursome but a little too salty for us. I have to say, I'm a tad disappointed with Italian food - the English version is definitely better. They just seem to use so much oil and salt on everything. We are certainly enjoying the breads with olive oil & balsamic vinegar that they bring out before every meal though. The waiter was enthusiastic about ...
