Once again it was time to hit the road for some more European road trip adventures. This time I would be exploring on my own, a daunting but exciting thought. I collected my (petrol) VW Golf from the train station and plugged in the little town of Turnov in the north of Czech Republic as my first destination. I wound my way up through the Czech country side, stopping in Turnov for some lunch ...
... it sounded cool and we wanted to see it.
We thought Görlitz would be about 1 1/2 hours away, but it was really more like 3 hours, as there was a lot of construction and re-routing along the way.
By 2:00 p.m. we were all getting hungry and we had already passed a McDonald's. But that's about all that we passed, other than loads of forests and farms. Not a lot of towns between Berlin and Görlitz, evidently.

... walking and crossed the pedestrian bridge into Poland where we tried to work out the conversion of the Polish currency into Aussie dollars, then into Euros. Prices seem quite cheap as we'd heard. Might have to do a bit more shopping! Was quite a long walk back to the hotel and as usual we were pooped. We appreciated a rest and I enjoyed a Radler beer, mmmm could get quite used to these.
Later dinner at a nearby burger specialty bar - was good!
... Gretchen's family, The Hentschke's. We already had seen several large construction sites with the Hentschke name while on the train from Dresden to Görlitz.
Our train ride was moving along steadily until we came to stop at a small depot about 14 km out of Görlitz. Un beknownst to us because of the language, an announcement had apparently been made ...

Cut my day a bit short yesterday, because of bad weather. Stopped just short of Goerliz.
120 km, through wet and slippery bikeways, crossing the "Saxon Schweiz", very challenging!
