... in store for Darryl. He eats so much, so fast and is still carrying a six pack. I stop running for a month and become a beluga whale while this monster of a man continues to devour small children and stray dogs while still parading the body of a Greek god.
My only refuge is that Greek men like it up the ****.

The steak was the only good thing to come out of Salta. That night I became violently ill. I saw shapes and colours dancing on the hostel ceiling. I slept in a pool of ...

It's like being Superman...without the perks

... when I finally get settled and am able to cope with having two distinct lives (my one at Truman and my life at home) I throw that all away....to start over again.

And the worst part is, this life, this new Katie (or Cati as she's called), is only going to last four months. It's hard enough to get attached to people and places and things when you're only going to be there for four years...four months is ...

Rockclimbing and Revolutionaries

... found a people-watching cafe, had breakfast and, well, watched people. When the waiter tried to rip us off for Patrick´s smoothie and croissants, we barely had the energy to put up a fight. This was definitely going to be a siesta day. After enjoying the darkness provided by the shutters and the quiet provided by earplugs (I am speaking only for myself as Blair cannot stand to wear them) for a good four hours, we ventured back out into the city and managed ...

Che day

... too. There was a letter Che wrote to Fidel telling him he was renouncing his Cuban citizenship before he left for the Congo to fight with rebels there. The tone of the letter suggested that he was renouncing his citizenship because he was going to the Congo on his own, not representing Cuba and did not want Cuba to take responsibility for his actions. It was fascinating to walk around where Che grew up...and he played rugby ...

Bordoba or What?

... angeschaut habe...

I´ll build a geodesic dome and sail away

... In fact, thinking about it, it's just the sort of mindlessly authoritarian, "We're doing it because it's good for you, whether you like it or not" sort of thing that Mr Tony Blair would introduce. Thankfully, he's no longer in power. Instead, we have the completely different Gordon Brown, who, despite pursuing an indentical set of policies, doesn't have the smarmy grin. No, to vote for the grin, you have to go for Cameron. So that's our next electoral choice - grin, or no grin ...

You learn from your beatings

... the Codeword we will run in the opposite direction that the cab is facing. We get out of the cab and start preparing for the codeword...bangers...and...MASH! and we're off! Unfortunately Linz proved to be too polite for his own good, and closed the door. And (unfortunately) he was too mad for his own good and started running in the wrong direction. So while i had run around the corner and found an excellent little hidy hole, linz was running back and forth down the street ...

Holiday town in Argentina

Rather than a purely descriptive entry, this one is Jayne sharing her reactions and thoughts with you - sharing her diary, actually. Well, we did it. We finally went against the advice given by Lonely Planet. I had to do it, having often, since the beginning of the trip, been disappointed by its recommendations or found its information misleading. "Go here, go there, so and so is not to be missed". Where was the last place we ended up when following its advice? Oh yes ...

La Cumbre

... meditate. On this particular day I had the luck to share the entire mountain with only two other people (there is a logbook at the front to keep track of lost hikers). When not hiking and exploring I spent a lot of time hanging out by the river reading Marco Polo{s Travels and thinking about my travel plan. The day before I left Carola cooked the three us of steak and barbecued eggplant. I departed feeling relaxed and centered, ready to head back to gringo territory.
