Arrived on time and bought a Dutch sim card for my phone. I'll be here for a while and lots of people to contact and it will be handy for transport apps to have a bit of data too. Then off to get a transport card for travelling on the trains and maybe buses too.

I found the right train with one change at Zwolle and then Rosa met me at Groningen train station.

It is great to be here and it is sunny and warm!

... 8220;ordinary” Market, you can buy knitted goods like socks, beanies, scarves, jumpers. You could also buy leathergoods, eg purses or wallets. So, there is plenty of options for last-minute Christmas presents. We also went to the Dinkelsbuhl Christmas Market, which was in another medieval town (there are a few of them in Germany!) and you can get Glühwein, Bratwurst, … the list is endless. The big difference we noticed was that more shops ...

... from the provinces of Overijssel and Friesland where dairy and sheep predominate to Groningen where there are larger wheat and sugar beet farms. Some towns are even built on mounds a couple of metres high! We even rode up a hill 9 metres high. This is definitely my kind of cycling, though I do miss the spectacular scenery ...
