    ... The only expense was to pay for candles you could light at various stages. Not a souvenir shop in sight. So..... We went to each place in turn. First, the dark and somber upper Basilica(of the Immaculate Conception). The clock in the the tower plays "Ave Maria" on the hour. Then the crypt, with walls lined with marble plaques enumerating thanks for favours received, we assumed. Then the beautiful Rosary Basilica. ...

    We have spent three weeks with a hire car touring the south coast of Britain whilst waiting for the truck to arrive, and filled in the gaps from our previous trip over this way. Three weeks of B&B’s should be enough for anybody and it was definitely more than enough for me. It

    ... see the change. I am glad he has
    gone back home as they have now knocked down the stone wall and will be
    installing lots of glass. Shame really and an awful waste of money. Meanwhile
    Stefan has nearly finished the Bergerie
    for an approximate cost of 3,500€ and a value of 60,000€. It’s not perfect, but
    will make an excellent garage and workshop. It would be nice to have the MG
    here and be able to drive her up Tourmalet!

    ... to play', silly. It's 'going away!' For months and months as the days get shorter and it makes me S A D. So surely it's time to get back to the equator where the days never get shorter, there's no real ale but Tusker anywhere the sun shines or sets is ok. This is actually a lovely site. Very peaceful and relaxing and way out in the countryside. As I have found so often on this trip the site ...

    ... not have water? Yes they do, and unlike our family visits in then1950s and 60s it's all 'potable' now. And the public loos are clean and shiny. I could go on about the motorway service areas all with teddybear picnic tables and reasonably priced proper food. Oh come on John. Not praising France. I don't believe it! Anyway, enough of the Victor Meldrew. I couldn't get the blog on line ...
