Last evening Annalia and I flew from Milan to Athens. We are staying with Jenny and Nikko, friends of Annalia in Oropos or Palatia, a 40 minute drive from the airport. ... But Athens wears it on it's sleeve. There's graffiti everywhere. Stray cats and dogs wander the streets. High fashion stores neighbour dingy knock-off outlets. Everywhere there's an open air, open market vibe. And, like Rome, there's ruins every few turns. It definitely feels more foreign than Italy, yet it's different again from Prague, Krakow, Budapest and the other Eastern European countries I've passed through. ...
