Day 16 - The Monte Carlo
... It can be quite disorienting to when your used to paying the person that serve you and ten they ask you in another language to pay elsewhere! It was a very good croissant though! It had a subtle salty taste which was nice :). After strolling through the small streets for a whole we went back to the hotel to book another night and pay for some wifi. We return to the ancestral manse
... located in a parking garage. Well, it’s not exactly in the parking garage itself, but just off “Level 0,” which is three circular stories below the “+3” entrance level. We had arranged a rendezvous with old friends whom we had met there. We saw Anne with her infant son Emmanuel, who inexplicably was no longer a baby, but now ten years old! And our good friend Paula was there too.

... On this train the seats were in the wrong direction. I was ******. Five hour train ride and I have to go backwards. Whatever. Have done worse before. With a 40 min delay our train finally departed. It was not so bad as long as I kept looking out of the window. The Cote d'Azur - Sun, Sea (and No Surf!)
... was so much fun. On our return home, we filled the car with modern techno music from well-known French musician Jean Michel Jarre, and we zipped through the amazing glow tunnels back over the border to Italy. Thankfully the Italian Carabinieri who stopped us was not interested in breath-testing Stephen (not that this was a problem). After a fabulous day and night, I think there will be lots more dancing on the agenda in the future ...
Fun and fancy free on the french riviera...
... intentions to get up early and
to do the washing, followed by exploring Nice. Unfortunately we didn't get
round to washing the clothes until after 7pm, but within that time Lizzie did
manage to rustle up a pretty good fry up. A taste of home. So all in all the
day wasn't spent doing nothing. That night to continue with our healthy eating
we got a kebab....
