A day of cold and hot
... car itself must be quite new and has all the modern electronic gadgets on board. When I first stepped aboard I thought the car would carry about 30 or so people but looking at the sign above the door it is limited, wait for it, limited to carry 102 passengers and 1 operator!! They must be squashed in like sardines when it’s that full!!!

Stranded in St Moritz
... but there was no place at all!!! In the end I ended up having to go into a rather nice hotel which seemed the only place in the town to have any life in it. Here I decided I better have lunch and a cuppa and afterwards headed back to my own hotel!!
By now I was extremely bored!! I asked the hotel reception about hiring a bicycle for a cycle around the lake but that was also a no go!!!

Sunshine and snow in the Alps
... has about 4 ft or so of snow covering it and so I simply stop at the edge of the road and take photos.
The weather has changed for the worst and its now biting cold and by the time I am heading down the pass it’s starting to snow. I am tempted to stop and put on my wet weather gear but within half an hour the snow has gone and the temp is way up again, it’s just incredible to say the least!!

What a journey

Sondrio, Tirano and the Bernina Express

We hop in the car for the last leg of our Italy drive - the drive to Sondrio is only 70k but takes about 70 mins and apart from the time spent in tunnels the drive is very scenic and Northern Italy quite appealing.
