      ... Matt explained to the children that it wasnt safe to swim there - or ven really to play. Scott had been REALLY looking forward to going in the sea though and so went on and on about it - how unfair it was, how it would be safe if he didnt put his feet down etc. He was in a thoroughly bad mood by the time we left.

      The area of Cinque Terre consisted of 5 little villages built into the seaside cliffs. You can only get to most of the villages either by train or ferry. We stayed in La Spezia and from there caught a ferry to some of the villages. Highlights of Cinque Terre: First stop - Riomaggiore Second stop - Manarola Third and last stop - Monterosso al Mare.
