... After about an hour or so the mist disappears and sunshine fills the sky......and the temperature quickly rises to a lovely 24c........!

We arrive at our Albergo and find it is part of a brewery ..... So we test the ale! Dinner is served in the adjoining restaurant ..... Also part of the brewery.....could/ should b a good this ...

Carbon copy repeat of a previous experience trying to sail into Portofino - rough seas meant it was too dangerous to tender ashore, so instead we docked in Genoa.

Having explored the city on that last visit, we chose to still take a shore excursion to visit the picturesque towns of Sestri Levante & Rapallo

... in Genoa and we would enjoy ourselves much more by paying to go to one of several private beaches with restaurants and services. We managed to navigate the Genoa tram system to Bagni Nuovo Lido. After shelling out over 60 US for entry, two lounge chairs and a parasol, we were lead through a shabby complex of pools, private cabanas and restaurants. After breakfast we walked across to the main station & bought day tickets for the metro & buses before taking the metro one stop & visiting the quite extraordinary cathedral. ... Columbus set sail on his trips around the globe. It is also one of the oldest cities in Italy. Add to that the fact that Genoa is home to a big aquarium - the largest in Italy, and second largest in Europe - and we had ourselves a destination! First off, Genoa was far easier to enter and then navigate than Bologna, scoring it huge points right off the bat. The hotel was easy to find, and located right next to the aquarium.
