This hotel has a retro-feeling. Rooms are very spacious and have stunning views over the mountains. Breakfast are buffet style and very good. Service also very good. Undercover parking available. Burgerbad baths are walking distance from the hotel.

However, the weather didn't cooperate and it was raining/cloudy the majority of the day - so the peak was in the clouds - so, because we would not have a good view, we decided to do other things in the area. Wengen is a "car-free" village - in the sense that there is no road to Wengen - it is accessed only by train. There ARE cars in the village for transporting goods and such by the natives - but all cars ...

          ... big group lasts!!!

The students took off for the castle. Alicyn, Gary, and I went for some coffee. We found a small cafe that was probably for locals only. We found three seats at the bar and ordered coffee. There were some salamis and cheese hanging from a pipe. I took a picture. The coffee guy was talking to a customer about me taking the picture. I knew enough German to know they were fascinated that I wanted to take the picture!

On the way to the castle, we ran ...

They had lots of adventure things you could do – like Queenstown in NZ. Paragliding, bungee jumping, white water rafting, jet boating, canyoning etc. We walked into a visitor information centre to get some idea on what we could do. None of us were quite sure what we wanted to do aside from go up and get a better view of the alps. We managed ...

... and the scenery is mind-blowing on the last train from Kleine Scheidegg to Jungfraujoch. Presided over by glacier encrusted monoliths Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau (meaning Orgre, Monk and Virgin) the scenery is uplifting. The big three peaks have an enduring place in mountaineering legend, particularly that of 3970 m Eiger that claimed lives and remained unconquered until 1938, the train goes through many open landslide protected tunnels and then ...

... lovely beds, and hopped into the swimming pool which was so cold we got straight out and into hot tub then hammocks. Very nice :D I might have got a bit burned though. We popped to see the lakein the evening on the free bus and skimmed some stones, it was so beautiful yet too cold and dark to swim. So we ran for the last bus home then had supernoodles for dinner -_- and played some terrible table tennis/football (on my part, I've never been very ...
