A travel blog entry by johncowell on Aug 07, 2015

Today Ruth and I took a canoe on the lake. We wanted to explore it more close to the coast. It was great fun apart from the burden on your shoulders. After an hour of paddling, our shoulders and forearms were worn out. We then had a relaxing afternoon by the pool, followed by a last supper at home before moving on to ...

The hire company had given us a map with suggested routes for our time in the lake. We decided to ...

Couldn't really find a place to park, but managed to see some of the boats. Found a hotel in Gallarate that looked like a good place to train to Milan tomorrow.  Kind of a dumpy hotel, but everything was booked.  ...

... m no expert I know that when mooring a boat everything has to be done nice and slowly, if for no other reason than to give the crew a chance to do what they have to. So the boat approaches a small buoy which the rear end of the boat is tied to, man grabs buoy using boat hook as boat passes it at speed, we watch with baited breath as man has to make decision let go of buoy or be dragged backwards off rear of boat. He chooses option A. Wise move. They eventually tie up front and ...
