... called Bessan. Some miles inland and not on the tourist track, it was a quaint and quiet town. It's good to see a town that isn't based on tourism. We ate sandwiches and fruit in a small square in the town and then resumed our drive. The driving conditions were good and we travelled about the speed limit, up to 130kmh, and reached Perpignan a bit after 1.30pm. Our last toll cost 8 euro so the total would've been 40-50 euro. Today is Wed and the park was packed. ...

... in tomato sauce and ginger cabbage. A great variety today. After the classes finished we had some free time, so one of the participants, Eva, and I went for a walk around the village. We found a lot of wonderful buildings and old houses, narrow windy roads with houses right on the street. We then found our way back to the back of the castle. There have been a large number of houses/apartments made from the old castle. I will include some photos ...

... chimes out the hour. At 12 noon and 7 pm it plays a melody. So it would be easy for the villagers to keep track of the time by the clock and bell tower. This gives a lovely feel to the place. The village has many organic farms plus orchards. They have farmers markets to sell their produce each week. I think we have all had withdrawals from the baguettes we were having each day in ...
