... no one was around and we are still not sure if they do tours of the factory but we came and we saw the home of my favouritest ever chocolate. We headed to the main piazza where they were just packing up from their weekly market so there was quite a few people around. I continue to marvel at the laneways and alleys of cobblestone paths and old brick and stone buildings. Once we found the town centre, there as in most towns and villages in Italy ...

... very nicely built and in the tiny town of Castellinaldo. Breakfasts were feasts, with many varied foods including poached pears, baked pears, and pear tart, all fantastic. There were various cakes and egg dishes and crème caramel which we suspected might have been left from dessert the night before at the restaurant but which we all loved.

... the same weight. After exploring the town we journeyed to another winery Tenuta Carretta, this time in the Barbaresco area. It has been a grape growing area for 100's of years but only in the latter part of the 1900's has this winery produced world class Nebbiolo red wines. Their wine making operation and cellars are extensive and all underground. We tasted 4 Nebbiolo reds from different vintages. Then it was back to our agriturismo for our last dinner before moving on to Milan ...

... we returned to the Antica, catching up on email etc. The sun was dropping, enough people about to create atmosphere without being noisy, and the resident dog and geese were wandering about the lawn. Sigh of contentment! Soufflé of zucchini and fresh tomato, ricotta stuffed zucchini flowers, risotto with veal sausage and sauted fillet of sirloin for dinner at a tiny but classy local taverna. Wednesday We make it to breakfast with time to spare! That's a first! ...
