... and hills that we drove through - and the ability to see across these valleys - castles, small villages, clustered houses, and neatly lined vineyards. Unfortunately, it was so hot that it made the view foggy - so the pictures don't represent nearly as much as we could see, but hopefully you can get an idea of it.

... the day, carved with their initials in gold. I desperately wanted to stay there for the night, the suite was called Rosa's suite, fate I thought. We discussed it at length over lunch (with some vino Bianco) but common sense prevailed ......Noel's,not mine .Suppose that's more that can be spent shopping in Milano !!

Most of the vineyards estates (called "Cru") have been in families for generations. They are not open to the public ...

... was around and we are still not sure if they do tours of the factory but we came and we saw the home of my favouritest ever chocolate.

We headed to the main piazza where they were just packing up from their weekly market so there was quite a few people around. I continue to marvel at the laneways and alleys of cobblestone paths and old brick and stone buildings. Once we found the town centre, there as in most towns and villages in Italy was the cathedral. ...

... we returned to the Antica, catching up on email etc. The sun was dropping, enough people about to create atmosphere without being noisy, and the resident dog and geese were wandering about the lawn. Sigh of contentment! Soufflé of zucchini and fresh tomato, ricotta stuffed zucchini flowers, risotto with veal sausage and sauted fillet of sirloin for dinner at a tiny but classy local taverna. Wednesday We make it to breakfast with time to spare! That's a first! ...

... Its on the fringe of town, which seems like a farming district. Cant see any welcome signs or where the foyer is, so we pull up near a gate and walk in. It is a long walk across an enormous courtyard. Picture an old western and the gringo walking into town, tumbleweed blowing alongside! There was a big old dog, staring quietly...ominous.
