The first few days back in Elounda were an opportunity to relax, and on Thursday we spent the day by the beach, Friday by the pool. Friday evening we jumped on the bus to Agios Nikolaos to meet Laura and her girlfriend for drinks, dinner and then some more drinks and was our only late night 'party night' of the whole three weeks. Their economy is very strong and they could survive independently from the rest of Greece. First stop was the Palace of Knossos. Interesting. Our tour guide Lena was good. She glossed over a lot of the dates and figures and just ...

... at night, the air was filled not with the sounds of commerce and groups of tourists, but with the authentic cacophony of Greek locals sitting around outside, making conversation as the day draws down. Kids, too. Kids in Greece stay out late. Surprisingly late. The result of a dearth of electronics and limited cable/internet I'm sure.

The couple next to me is now arguing about Santorini.
