... nihangs came to us started looking at us and our laptop like we were some aliens from Mars. Then later we came to know that they thought we were TV reporters. Anyway it was very different experience. After having some pictures then we again started our journey, this time our destination was Gurudwara 'Parivar Vichhora'. Gurudwara Parivar Vichhora is located on the bank of river Sarsa. It is a beautiful and peacful place. History: This Gurudwara ...
Jalandhar, India bipodx... t going to arrive for an hour so we had to wait with him or the waiters would kick him out. Thus, Suv asked if there was any beer left over and the waiters said it had all gone. Then out of nowhere, the drunk guy pulled a full litre bottle of whisky which he was hiding in his ******?! As he shouted, 'drinks all round' in Punjabi, I fell on the floor with laughter - we all ...
Jalandhar, India nikgill... guards looked really cool too- lots of pompous looking head-gear! Although i though the Pakistani guards looked better in their midnight-blue uniforms. It was dark by the time we got back to where we were staying, but we realised we hadn't actually seen the temple yet so made our way down from our room to the centre of the huge complex. It was really worth it cos the temple is stunning- its a small temple made of gold (funnily enough) that looks like its ...
Amritsar, India joannanathanDay 204 Wed 31st May 2006 Out for the count! I stayed in bed most of the day. My Thai had made me a Parantha and cup of tea at 10am before leaving for Nakodar, I tried to eat and drink but I was in no fit state really, I popped a couple more pills and didn't come around till 2pm. When I got up the front door was locked and the house empty, I hadn't eaten since yesterday morning ...

Thai had gone to Jalandhar for the day so we were left up to our own devices, as usual Soma spent most of the day playing cards with the old folk in the Pind and I did stuff on my Powerbook. Around midday there were some people out side the house putting up pillars for a new electricity connection, I went out to see how they went about it all. It was quite an experience! I think ...
Nawa Pind, Nakodar, Punjab, India harvimalhi... any sane person to be more than 2 metres away from an AC unit! I got to the shop around 3pm. Ashni uncle wanted me to help get four Sherwani's made for some people from the UK, it would seem I'm the Sherwani expert now!!! I went with Sooraj from the shop to buy the fabric and drop it off to the tailors, yep the same **** that messed me about last time. I got back to the ...
Jalandhar, Punjab, India harvimalhi... the Chinese Cultural Revolution from Tibet, hence there is a lot of Tibetan influence in the town, including Tibetan Monks, Temples and yummy 'momos' (Tibetan dumplings). Martin, Annie, Paul and I have taken a few walks in and around the town. On Monday we walked to Bhagsu and Dharamkhot (2 neighbouring villages) and enjoyed a picnic in the forest with a few dogs for company (they ...
McLeod Ganj, India worldofbintang... tumour has come back and is spreading at a rapid rate. He has lost a lot of weight and is unable to talk because the tumour is in and around his mouth. It was quite a shock to see him in such a bad way, he couldn't even walk from the van into the house, he was carried in like you would a child, it's a miracle that he made it back at all judging by the way he is right now. It would seem they have exhausted all possible avenues for treatment, I don't know what anybody else ...
Jalandhar, Punjab, India harvimalhi... which pleased him to no end. We saw flocks of parrots and doves and in one village peacocks flew in to town in the morning to display their beauty on rooftop stoops. The people here are generous and friendly when the meet you but will stare right through you, dissect you from afar when they realize you're from away. It is a little unnerving. However, they do have a huge appetite for laughter even if they did have a wee bit of fun at my expense. At one ...

It's been interesting to note how Buddhism, this peaceful, loving religion, is as susceptible to corruption as any other. I've been told of monks drinking beer from teacups in the bar down the road, and of others, having supposedly renounced material wealth, trading in their perfectly good mobile phones for more recent, far more expensive models. I also heard of a German tourist who was ...
