Driving highway 1 is Amazing. I drove from Montery to Morro Bay. Beautiful views, see pictures. I saw some whales, and got one on the picture really well. Enlarge the picture, I couldn't find a way to do it on my iPad and then save it. The whales jumped a lot. Funny was that it took about 2 to 3 seconde before we heard the slap on the water. Strange to see it earlier and hear it that much later. I also saw a huge amount ...

... free car park immediately next to the area, and you can get uninterrupted views for as long as you want without anyone asking you for money.

Delighted with the seal sighting we carried on to our stop for the next two nights - Morro Bay. From 10 miles out we could see the famous Morro Rock (and the not so famous power station opposite) in the distance. Our campground was the Morro Dunes RV Park which is located right next to a sewage works. We were aware of ...

Fortunately we were out of the hills and into the "city", he had made it, but it spent him. I drove us into the town and to our not-so-scenic destination at River Run RV ...

          ... whole place to ourselves.

After a caffeine boost we headed down into the valley below. We parked up and took the short walk towards Yosemite Falls. Unfortunately at this time of year it's completely dry, it usually dries up in August. It's obvious to see the path the water takes in full flow but looking at it dry is a bit like looking at Kiss without the makeup. Nowhere near as exciting although I have absolutely no doubt it is incredible when it's in full ...

There and back again.. A hobbits tale

A travel blog entry by rich_s on Sep 14, 2014

... made me feel like a hobbit.. A very happy one at that! We traveled nearly every day and got to see some incredible places, the north island was very much a tropical one however it was winter time which somebody forgot to tell me an Lewis as we spent our time in shorts and flip flops. After we had driven past mount doom we ended up white water river rafting.. Never done it before but what's the worst that can happen?! Firstly I'd like to say that it ...
