... in the past. Took the bus back to Arnhem station, got our bags and jumped on the train to Utrecht where we changed and went to Amersfoort. Pieter had phoned ahead and Carla was waiting at the station which was one stop from the centre of town. Carla is Pieter's cousin on his dads side. Raewyn had never met her before. ... dash for there .TOO late the thunder lightening heavy wind struggled to keep bikes up and torrential rain so got under some big trees down a farmers drive after 35 mins were were drowned wet to the bones ,stil raining but we were so wet didn't seem any point staying there got to theme park hotel where a bunch of cyclist had beaten us to the covered spots

... not win any awards for taste or look. In fact I think it was fake Italian people in there. It was food, of sorts.

... served hot off the griddle dusted with powdered sugar. They were served with a small slab of butter which made them just that much more delicious. We got a plate to share and they disappeared amazingly quickly. ... down the Neder-Rijn and then the Pannerdens Kanaal which has a flow against us as it is a continuation of the Waal which flows on to the Ijssel and the Neder-Rijn. We then joined the River Waal and it was an extremely busy junction with barges everywhere. We noticed a barge at a BP diesel bunker barge and next door was a Total one, so we decided to fill up.
