... a map and a bad sense of direction.

The first thing we noticed was Slovenia is the size of a pinhead. Missed two turnings (no, that can't be it, haven't gone far enough) before winding our way back up the motorway, the vignette paid for motorway, to Bled. Now, Bled is beautiful. But Bled is awful. Too much beauty equals too many people. Think a posh Butlins/Blackpool (but beautiful). Done that. Done Bled. **** that. Never going back.

Returning back into Austria (we didn't do any detours, look at a map, this is just the shape of the borders) we came back into ski Sunday scarred territory but it almost seems churlish to make the point because the rest of the scenery is so immaculately kept, so beautiful, so dramatic. After lunch we met up with Renato at the Col Rodella Cable Car just round the corner from our campsite and got kitted out in harness and helmets, then it was into the Cable Car and swiftly up out ...

... Italian pizza at the pretty campsite restaurant. We began to try and figure out all the words for various toppings in Italian from the menu .... We are not very good yet but the pizzas which arrived were all yummy anyway. After dinner we decided the coolness of the evening was a good time to attempt to erect the awning for the first time on the Big Trip. The last time we did it we were with the Corries at Loch Ken which seems like ages ...

We left Camping Ampersee at 9:00 and headed down the Autobahn into Munich, along with every other car in Germany!! Yes of course there were some more roadworks just to slow things down a little more. Then to finally put the nail in the coffin of the myth of German efficiency the two major Autobahns that we need to drive on are linked by using a central highway through the metropolis of Munich. Traffic lights, junctions, shops, schools... ...
