Just for the kiddos
Jul 3, 2008

Forgot to say: I saw a GIANT crab (made of ceramic) today and got some pictures. It was so big, if it was alive you could ride on it! (If it didn't eat you up, it didn't look like a very friendly crab.) Also, I have a great picture of an elephant! Miss you lots! Hugs!

Busy, busy day in Milano. We went to Castello Sforzesca (Sue and Jen walked, the rest went in a taxi so Anna wouldn't have to walk so far) and saw lots. (Too much to write in the time I have on the public computer but if you search for sites in Milan it will come up!) Then we walked down Via Dante and had a great lunch at the Cafe Magnifico, whi...

Everyone got a good night's sleep (we all finally dragged ourselves out of bed about 9 am local time) and we caught the (very tail end) of breakfast in the hotel. Croissants and rolls with a soft cheese or jelly or butter or Nutella (I did warn Paul ahead of time since it has nuts in it), hard boiled eggs and sliced ham, American coffee and tea....

Nathan says: First of all, I have to get something off my chest: Never ever ever book anything through hotels-search-engine.org. Here's the story of our first major travel hiccup (except for the Auckland Airport fiasco, of course). We get into Milan at about 9pm, having spent the day walking around the beautiful coastline of the Cinque Terre, fe...

Quite nice hotel

from mmatsuura on 2004-07-22
This hotel was a good deal for the price I found on expedia.com. Room was nice, had a high ceiling and a clean hardwood floor. Staff were professional. The hotel seems to have been recently renovated.

Only the concern is the noise from the street. Very "classic" tram is running just in front of the hotel, and its noise was bothersome early in the morning. Ask for a room not facing the street, if you can.

Great Hotel

from A TripAdvisor User on 2004-04-12
We got in late at night - had a hard time finding the street and the hotel. I loved the wood floors - big room for 3 people - even had a walk in closet, lots of mirros, big clean bathroom. Close to a main street with lots of shops, restaurants and a gelato store, short walk to Santa Maria delle Grazie (Last Supper) and also close to the street car lines. You can take the street car line (2 blocks from the hotel) to the Duomo. They also have a secure parking garage - but if it's full has another contracted garage 4 blocks away. It's also

Pleasant hotel - bit of a trek from centre

from A TripAdvisor User on 2003-10-11
Pleasant hotel, rooms and restaurant clean and neat, nice terrace if sunny. Our room had a view of the block of flats opposite though and it is a bit of a hike to the Centre for shops, sights etc.

It is not in the Brera district - it is a hike to here too and worth getting the metro if you are in a hurry or tired!

Nice Local Hotel

from A TripAdvisor User on 2003-07-25
I enjoyed my stay here very much. It's in a quieter, leafier part of town to the west of city center. Our room was small, but elegant in a minimalist way and comfortable. The courtyard downstairs with the mosaic tile floor and plantings is a wonderful place to have breakfast.

The only drawback were the pillows which were really hard, but that's a small quibble.

Good deals available directly from the hotel website. I would reccomend it!

Good value on venere.com

from movingtoLugano on 2003-04-14
I've stayed in three different rooms in this hotel. It's in a great neighborhood, but be sure to request an internal room, as trolley and street noise are extremely loud in external ones. I've found an outrageously low rate on venere -- about 55 Euros lower than anywhere else! There's free Internet access and breakfast is good, but the beds are unbelievably hard.
