We completed our one and a half hour flight from Berlin to Paris. It is a pity that with all the waiting and transferring it took in total about seven and a half hours, such is life on the road. We are staying in a small boutique hotel about ten minutes walk from the Eiffel tower. A little smaller than our Berlin hotel but a lot more expensive. It …
In the evening, every hour, on the hour, the Tour de Eiffel's lights flash and sparkle, wowing the crowds before it goes back to the usual magnificence of its constantly lit-up structure.
I fell in love with the Eiffel Tower as soon as I saw it. After an 8 hour flight from Melbourne to Kuala Lumpur, 4 hour lay-over... 12 our flight to …
... We boarded our double decker bus and headed for our first stop of the night, dinner at restaurant 58 on the first level of the Eiffel Tower. The 3 course dinner was just divine, the entree was salmon and waffles, main was chicken, potato and greens, and dessert was a chocolate cake! The view was also sensational. We were going to take the stairs down (which i was dreading) but the gates were closed so we had to wait for the lift to pass a couple of times before we ...
... like London or New York, is in a class above most other big cities. London and Paris in particular combine incredible history and old things with the new – efficient subway systems, great diversity and ethnic neighborhoods, and the casual worldliness of their citizens. You’ll never run out of things to do and see there, and you’ll encounter people of all backgrounds there. I would visit either again in a ...
... sites today! Can't wait. Walk through Saint Germaine. Past the Parthenon and down to the Louvre. Three words to describe it.... Amazing, Massive and inconceivable. I can not belief how amazing the architecture is. The things we have seen. Just remarkable. Very very humid inside thousands of people.......you could spend days!!!!!! We visited the Mona room. Absolutely jammed! 5 metres away...Gee it is ...

Lovely stay. Breakfast was delicious. Hotel is close to metro, and not far from the Eiffel Tower.
One sour employee, but everyone else was fantastic and helpful!

Good Value for Money
This place is good value for money. We stayed with our two kids in one room with two double beds. The room was much larger than normal French hotel rooms, the decor was nice, the staff were very pleasant and the breakfast was very good value also. It is also 2minutes from the Champ de Mar and 2 minutes from the nearest metro station. A fantastic location.
My friend & I stayed at this hotel at the beginning of May 2005. We found it VERY easily taking the train and Metro to the La Motte Piquet (sp?) stop. Although easy to find, I must say that the weary traveler will find that too much luggage will be a problem -- lots of stairs to navigate to get to this stop (we used the hotel shuttle that the hotel recommended and reserved for us to go back to the airport at the end of the stay.) Once at the hotel, we were warmly greeted and given the key to our room (BIG KEYCHAIN!-can't lose it!) The cute little elevator for two brought us up to our room and we found our room right around the corner. The room is bigger than most Parisian rooms in this class and was very clean and tidy. A nice feature of this room was that the toilet was separate from the shower/sink room and gave some extra privacy. There is a shower curtain in the bathroom so that you can take a shower, but the shower is still a hand-held type so it might be a bit awkward for some people. Another surprising perk at this hotel that I didn't expect were the bathroom amenities--shampoo, soap, q-tips, shoe shiner all were in nice little basket on the vanity. Most hotels in this class don't include this. What a nice surprise! The big French windows opened up to a nice little alcove and there was a peek-a-boo view of a nearby church. While we were in Paris there was unusually warm weather (90 degrees Fahrenheit) and the room did get a little warm due to no air conditioning (although the French doors opened up nice and big so it brought fresh air into the room).
We stayed at Hotel Ares week of 5/23. The room we had enough space/storage for two people. We were on the top floor so we had a great view of the Eiffel Tower, only minutes away. I don't think the people living in the apartment across the street were to pleased when we videotaped the Tower Light show from our room! The Metro was close by and easy to take once we understood it. They have bakeries on Ave de Suffren and La Motte that made great, inexpensive sandwiches. There was also a Chinese takeaway near by that made excellent reasonably priced food. Plus I loved the coffee that the Hotel served us during the morning breakfast. The ladies at the desk, listed in previous reviews were excellent helping us out (speaking English fluently) with whatever we asked. The Hotel and our room was very spotless due to a great cleaning staff. And as one reviewer noted, they provided toiletries and had a shower curtain (not to mention an excellent shower!). The proximity to the Eiffel Tower, Trocadero, trains, tour busses and boats, plus a helpful staff makes this Hotel a wise selection. Just remember, no a/c. We did get a good breeze thoough and they provide fans (we went during a hot period).
I stayed for 4 nights at this hotel March 20-24, 2005. This was my fourth stay there. It's a clean hotel with friendly staff. The rooms are a bit small but not all of them "are decorated by a clown" as a previous reviewer mentioned. Breakfast at 9 euro is reasonable with yogurt, orange juice, a piece of cheese plus the usual croisant, bread and jam in addition to coffee or tea. It's an any easy walk to the Eiffel Tower with good access to the Metro La Motte Picquet Grenelle. You can also walk around the Swiss Village antique store complex a block away. There are lots of good restaurants in the area. I'd recommend the Cafe de Commerce about six blocks away, Edith and Helene in the nearby Rue Laos and the Suffren (two blocks). On the other hand Au Pere.. is overpriced for what you get, the Gitane is OK but only if you smoke and the Cafe Pierrot is low priced but poor value for money.
I stayed at the Hotel Ares for five nights last week (Easter and days following). I definitely recommend it! It is a charming hotel (42 rooms total on 7 floors) off a small street adjacent to the Avenue de la Motte Piquet in the 15th district-but near the border to the 7th (close to Champ de Mars). It's neighbors are upscale apartment buildings/doctors offices/businesses. It is a nice, pleasant stroll away from the Eiffel Tower.
The location of this hotel is pretty good. It is near the Eiffel Tower, near the Metro, and near some okay restaurants. The room itself was clean and relatively spacious by European standards. However, the room was surprisingly ugly. As I recall, it was painted pink, with bright orange curtains, and maybe even some green trim. The color scheme was selected by a clown. The room in which we stayed also had not been renovated in very many years, so it just felt old and run-down, even though it was clean. The front desk staff was also reasonably helpful, giving us accurate directions to the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre.
A little luxury, a lot of value!
Hotel Ares is located in a wonderful spot near the Eiffel Tower. You'll enjoy strolling past the Tower while it gleams in the day time and shimmers at night. The hotel is conveniently located near a main line Metro stop. The accomodations were comfortable and clean. Great breakfast! Hotel staff was pleasant and helpful. Our only dissappoinments were the lack of a scenic view and the occasional church bells. Overall a great traveling experience.
A Quiet Little Gem
The Ares Hotel in Paris is quietly situated near the Eiffel Tower on a charming side street in Paris. It is within 2 blocks of several Metro lines. The room was moderate size, the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was PINK. Really pink. The staff was quite helpful. There is a neighborhood church a block away that has Mass every morning at 8:00 which you will soon discover when the bells start to chime. However, there is so much to do in Paris that we really didn't mind being awakened. The location so close to the Metro made the Hotel very, very convenient. In addition, it's a short walk to the Eiffel Tower and the river cruises. The price was quite reasonable, and we would certainly consider staying there on our next trip to Paris.
We stayed at this hotel in October 2003. This hotel was wonderful! The staff was very friendly and most accomodating. I can't say enough about the service given by the staff, especially Emerick (sp?) who was so patient and helpful to us. The rooms were nice and clean, and the location of the hotel is great! I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
Perfect quaint hotel near Eiffel Tower
We stayed here for one week with our 2 young children. It was a wonderful hotel and a great central location. It was a fair price for the room which had 2 double beds, medium sized bathroom, and a peek of the top of the Tour d'Eiffel. A nice quiet neighborhood conveniently near a metro stop. We would return any time we go to Paris!
