... half. It was pretty hairy driving for about 15klms of windy road, driving in a little European car would not be a problem, but driving a 9 seater, slightly different. Imthought I was going to go off the ledge only twice. It was breathtakingly beautiful. Absolutely stunning. We stopped in Bellagio which is a big tourist spot and I'm so glad we did. When we were going up the most beautiful stone steps with shops adorning ...

Day 274 1 hr, 1 km With the steep, wooded mountainside to my left and a valley that is quickly narrowing to my right it's only a few hundred meters and I'm in the next town, Messe. I know that the uphill climb is getting close, including my big goal: to cross the Splugenpass from Italy to Switzerland on foot. Some of the barns are in disrepair--but you can still see that a lot of love went into building ...

... untarnished" mountain regions... not a lot of jobs... so people spend much of their lives elsewhere working... Finally I reach a point where the valley narrows. Up on a hilltop is another town--but a sign says there's a waterfall off to the side. I figure, no harm in taking a detour to see a waterfall. But by the time I get there it's too dark to really enjoy it, so I decide to just camp out here and continue on tomorrow. It's been a very full ...

Day 273 2 hrs, 8 kms Novate Mezolla is on the far side of the lake. Here there are quite a few vacationers enjoying the last days of summer on the lake. Take another video clip along with a quick tour of the town. Next is another fertile valley, perfectly flat on the bottom but with abrupt, steep walls. Unlike the Valtellina and Camonica valleys, there's no ...
