After graduation, we followed the throng of families all trying to find their loved one in the masses of people who congregated at the end of the field closest to the gymnasium where the soon-to-be graduates had formed up before the ceremony. ... the coast but never have the air temp. get higher than 67 degrees in the summer. That would make for some chilly swimming water!

We continued on route 101 from here and then turned northeast onto 199, wending our way to the border of Oregon. This is a stunning road that follows the Smith River in CA and then the Illinois River in Oregon. Quintessential mountain and river beauty. Too bad we were driving at night in the rain! Even so, we could appreciate it's beauty. ...
