After surviving the Grand St. Bernard Pass, in the rain, we crossed the border , (a small sign) into North Italy. We took the backroads avoiding the Autostrada . Two reasons : MOLTO CARO !! , very expensive tolls, and also very ugly ,as it bypasses all the beautiful small towns ( which is , I suppose the whole point for some with time issues )

So, repeating the mantra ..... Stay on the right , give way to the left .... We arrived in Turino .

... we found this amazing local Pizza place, it one that the locals use, so there was no English going on at all. But we got 2 medium Pizza's for euros 7, can't moan about that, and we couldn't even eat it all.

The following morning we had arranged to see the The Shroud of Turin, due to circumstances this did not happen, but we went off to our next destination, Capena Rome.

After our night in the hotel at Turin we got on our bus, and headed out to see the Shroud of Turin. The bus dropped us off fa little ways from the Shroud so we had to walk about half a mile. We went down for a light breakfast a little after 8:00 and came back to the room to get caught up on a few things. Eldon figured it would take us about 30 minutes to walk to the Shroud of Turin. Eldon got passes for us online yesterday for a 10:30 showing. We actually didn't get in until about 11:00. There was a huge line again. All of the talking introduction of the Shroud was in Italian. We left the hotel this morning after a light breakfast a little after 9:00. We had been informed about the fabulous Egyptian museum in Torino so that was our goal for the day.

We took back roads all the way to Torino. It was lovely. This is the rice capital of the Europe. We passed rice paddies for miles today. They seem to plant the fields at different times, we suppose so ...
