I made them Chicken Wild Rice soup last Friday (and I listened to a Prairie Home Companion while I was cooking... felt like home). The soup turned out alright, kind of salty... of course my mom can do it better...

My friends got a hold of an American football, so we played ...

Arrival in Switzerland

... up as a B&B. They very kindly make a room available for me when I'm in the region. I got settled in and rested a bit. And around 4:00 we took their dog Loupi (from lupus or loup, Latin and French respectively for wolf) for a walk through the vinyards and farm fields near their house. It was a cool but pleasant and clear evening. Loupi ran through the fields, dug for rodents, and had to be called back from chasing the horses and riders we encountered. In spite of the noise we ...

Socialized Medicine Ain't Cheap

... The reason is that, based upon my experience, they will NOT have any for you. I found myself sitting on a metal, fold-out chair, with nothing but a French TV (which was in the next room where the other patients were sitting) and French newspapers. This waiting room made the MD offices in the USA, with their 5 yr.-old Ladies Home Journal and Popular Mechanics magazines look appealing. And of course, there was a kid ...

That's about it

We sadly left Chamonix and vowed to return there in the winter, and drove to Annecy. Annecy was kind of a repeat of Prague, beautiful old city, on the water, with canals... we were kind of sick of that scene by then. They are applying to have the 2018 Olympics there, with the ski events at Mont Blanc. It would be a nice venue for sure.

Swiss cheese, olympians and goddesses

... was pretty amazing. It was made up of stories from athletes about how they needed to conquer their fears and nervousness to be able to compete. Their absolute focus being on success. Tony and I also tried out the relaxation room, which ended up listening to music and a woman speaking in a chinese dialect. I wonder what subliminal messages we received??? We also got to touch a gold medal from the Sydney olympics and view the amazing relics from ...

Truly :) Soisant quatorze. Anyone... is that how you'd spell it (in french french? as opposed to swiss french, which might be septant quatre. but might not be... spelling french sucks.)?

Arrived in Switzerland, Geneva airport ragged and dragging tail till we saw brother Jim and children waving on the other side of the glass. I couldn't get my baggage fast enough as my 5th wind kicked in. We gather all - Jim, Jade, Craig, Jana and me into Jim's '91 ...
