A day at the beach in La Barra
During the 6-hour bus ride from Colonia de Sacramento, I glanced out of the window from time to time as we passed by farmland and the occasional small town. Day 2 in Punta del Este
... the museum, because we didn’t want to spend the afternoon in there when the weather was so nice, and we had paid for the scooter. So we looked around the outside for a bit, and then headed back. Before going back to the highway, we drove out onto a point overlooking the ocean that has a circular drive around it. We parked there for a few minutes and took some pictures, and also bought a few small gifts from some people with tables set up there.

On to Punta del Este
... well-manicured lawns and landscaping. The boulevard all along the ocean front, from one end of Punta del Este to the other, is like that. There is the occasional vacant lot – always with a “Vende” sign - and some new construction here and there.

We also visited the huge dam at Salto with its impressive hydro-electric station. We were glad to have the opportunity to visit the water park next door... a chance to cool off.
