Arrived in Budapest after a long flight. The Viking Skadi is a beautiful longboat. Budapest is a magnificent city and well deserves the title of "Paris of Eastern Europe". The visit to the Duheny St. synagogue and Holocaust museum was very moving. The night sail leaving Budapest heading for Slovokia was ...

We had a very pleasant run back to the Visegrad (opposite side of the bank). We had coffee ...

We decided to take a short break from Budapest (post yet to come) and see some of the Hungarian countryside. We traveled to Esztergom, about 60 klms north of Budapest at a big bend in the Danube when the river takes a right hand turn from east to south. Esztergom is the old capital of Hungary and is still the seat of the Hungarian Archbishop. The town features a massive cathedral modelled on St Peters in Rome and it sits on a clifftop ...

After lunch back on the ship we set sail for Vienna. On the way we passed Esztergom which was the main residence of the rulers of Hungary over a 1000 years ago. The ruined palace ...
