Trip from Salzburg to Lienz via Grossglockner

A travel blog entry by klooser on Sep 19, 2014

Weather sunny, very warm. Left Salzburg 10am, had a beautiful drive with colourful scenery to the toll gate for the Grossglockner Alpenhochstrasse. Leonie made the following observation of the magnificent drive: Not for those who do not like heights! Rally revheads behind the wheel of Porsche, and any others that go fast were a sight to behold and to get away from No marmots graced the hills with their ...

Today we spent the day in the Dolomites (a beautiful mountain range in the Italian Alps). It was fun. We end up waking up one of the smaller mountains and finding some lakes. pass to Bolzano. As expected, the low cloud made for little viewing of the
    mountain peaks.

Went north to Bressanone but stayed on a ...

... each. After getting off the first train and waiting for the second, there was an announcement in Italian that we could not understand. A lady, whom I didn't get the name of, let us know that there was not going to be a train and we needed to get the bus. Unfortunately you can't stand on the bus and Jess was sitting and I was not... I was about to get off the bus when a lovely gentleman offered his seat for me. I felt horrible for taking it but if I had not, ...

... I rode into Cortina I passed most of the rest of the group, who were on a guided ride. Being an independent soul, I'd chosen to go out on my own and plan my own route. Tonight will be our third night at the Hotel Table. It's very comfortable but I am not used to being in one place for so long when I am holidaying. It will be good to move on tomorrow. Must be my 1/32 part gypsy genes at ...
