    ... how long it took to make these with such precise detail. They are said to be the best Byzantine mosaics outside of Turkey.
    They have been preserved really well and are still shimmering and glittering in all their glory.

    ... area then went to sit in the food cart area. Lucky it was only a short 30 min train ride to Florence. We were happy we made it! We checked into our hotel then went for food! We did a lot of eating in Italy! We walked into the city center, it was hot and packed with tourist standing in line to see things the David statue and the cathedral.     ... my quota for the day, I practiced restraint. Haven't done that for some time. I think that breakfast will be good in the morning if with glowing reports on TripAdvisor are correct.

    We are now back in the room. Annette is cleaning up her mess from this afternoon. Her pannier bags were emptied on our arrival and cover half the floor of the room. I am just about to finish the blog, ignore and mess and go to sleep.
