(By Jason Smart) Today a dozen of us enjoyed a private tour of Prague's Municipal House (Obecni dum), said to be the finest Art Nouveau building in the city. Don't let the name fool you--the municipal house isn't the seat of local government but rather a cultural center. Concerts are held frequently in three of the building's "halls." ... of the guard but don't see much of it due to the crush of people, at least four or five deep, around the site. I believe that a bevy of tour buses had disgorged their contents into the area. ... her watching her youtube clips.. All sipping on our wine we finally made our way through the town and went to the restaurant for lunch. The town was actually really cute to walk through. We all sat down, we sat down next to a really lovely couple from Victoria so talked to them about their trip etc.. had a beer and some Czech food! The architecture of this city is amazing. There are examples of so many styles –
Baroque, Renaissance, Classical, Neo-Classical, etc. etc. It is all so beautiful, so striking. Apparently, since Czechoslovakia surrendered to the Nazis during the Second World War just before they invaded, Prague remained relatively intact. There were no mass bombings and air-raids ...
