David went for a walk around the base of Marjan and I looked around the Diocletian Palace which is on the harbour front. It was built by the Emperor Diocletian in 300EC. It's a massive structure facing the sea on the south side with walls 15-20 metres high. It has houses and streets and shops, cafés and restaurants amongst the historic sites. On the outside next to the water and port are cafés and restaurants.

... up to Zagreb. We knew that these few days were going to be travel-centric, but that was the price we were happy to pay to get an extra night in Hvar. It is still pretty and nice to remind yourself that you are traveling through Croatia. Just a bit tiring! Not zombified-tired but I’m-happy-to-sit-in-a-cafe-drinki ng-coffee-tired.

As we make our way out of Croatia we have a list of places that we would like to come back and visit. Next time :-)

After a walk up to Marjan, the hill overlooking Split, we took a seat at one of the many cafés along Riva and enjoyed a drink in the sun. We strolled around the market and organised our all -important alcohol supplies for the yacht, and had a quick burger before making our way to the marina. We checked in and were shown to our yacht, named 'Sika' - one of 5 guest boats that would be sailing together for the week. We also met our lovely boat buddies - Vidya and Yogi ...
