    ... after 8pm. Went for a walk up to the spanjola (fortress) for some wonderful views over Hvar, before heading out for dinner & drinks. Thursday We left Hvar early for stari grad (on the other side of Hvar island). A summer storm stopped our swim stop short, but cleared by the time we docked for a swim at the local beach.     ... we have visited. The islands and small villages and ports on the way are just simply breathtaking and Dubrovnik and Split are unique. We will come back one day, but next time we will probably island hop on the ferries that link the islands and then stay longer in each place.     ... some islands and caves. So at 8 AM we got on a small speed boat and began our 2 hour ride to the first spot. It was really cold out on the sea that early, so we were given wind jackets. It was really relaxing to be out on the sea, with no other boats around, and the water was as smooth as glass. Our first stop was at a small island.     ... diocleticians palace (I even got my first O/S haircut), rubbed a toe for good luck (the large statue of Grgur Ninski - who's toe has become rather shiny as a result of this practise!) and had an early night.
