Split - quiet but good weather

... and making sure we had everything we needed.

Just went and had a short walk around and baked trout dinner at Serum which was a cool little place like being in someones living room.
Went to a couple of bars afterwards and found out why it was so quiet in Split - Sunday is the "day of the dead" (the way the barman in the first bar explained it to me) which is the day of the year that everyone visits the graves of their ...

What we thought would be a vacation...

... were stepping off the ferry, hoards of people were shouting to us, “Do you need accommodation?!” It was all the locals who have sobes. They all wait at the ferry dock to “attack” tourists when they are walking off the plank. We then had to choose between three different people who had gotten to us, all trying to convince us to rent their place simultaneously. It’s really hard to listen to three Croatians who barely ...

... something quiet. This spot is exactly what we were hoping for! There are only about fifty people at the campsite, which means that it is private without us being the only ones at the campsite, which seems to have been the trend lately! We bargained with the lady at the desk and paid for the cheapest spot but were able to park in the most expensive with the best views…they are unbelievable. Sailboats are going past now and we ...

After lunch it would be more of the same boat life. Until reaching port for the evening. We would arrive sometime in the afternoon. Enough time to explore the town before the sun went down and take a couple of photos. Here is the order of the towns that we went to.

No more pizza please

... we've found quite stange in Croatia is that cafes and bars only serve drinks, you have to go to a restaurant if you want food. We wandered around checking out more Roman ruins and then decided to head out to the beach which was also just around the corner from where we were staying. It was a lovely little cove and had a few locals swimming and playing ball games in the water. We spent a few hours chilling out ...

... 1 in the morning so he would meet up with us for food and drinks. We arranged to meet outside the Tourist info inside Diocletians Palace... We got there and there was no sign of him. I wandered off to try and fnd him and Simon stayed put. I turned round to see Chet facing one way looking at his map, and Simon facing the other way just about to call Chet on his phone... Was quite amusing to see them both standing 5feet away from ...

... of the original palace. Then we got the bus out of town to try to visit Solin, some more roman ruins. Well, that was a waste of time! We obviously didn't make ourself very well understood and got put off the bus somewhere(?). We did see an aqueduct and there probably were some ruins nearby but we never found them! Back home for a swim in the Adriatic and some fresh fish on the BBQ. It wasn't such a bad day, after all.

On the Adriatic Sea!

Our trip took us from Prague to Split, Croatia, which is the second largest city in Croatia directly on the Adriatic.

We were delivered to our Hotel the “Vestibul Palace” which was actually inside the castle walls of the Old City. It's a new, contemporary, luxury hotel, tucked away among Roman ruins inside the narrow alleyways around it. The walls in our room were over 700 years old! What a place to base our activities. The city ...

... in a similar situation. Well, it is just a different culture I guess. Oh, the Vietnamese food was outstanding.] LYNNE: We didn't exactly "check" the carriage. It's a small restaurant with tables really close together. Because the Germans use really huge carriages, there wasn't room to just pull it up to the table, so we left it near the door. Anyway... We were lucky in that it seemed to rain every time we went inside and clear up whenever we were outside. By the end of the day ...
