Siiiiiiiiii

The start of Sharkita's big adventure!!

And at long last we are on our way ... can't quite believe we are actually starting this journey after all the work, planning, talking .... And we know we've been to San Telmo many times before but this time it is different!! And so good to have Simon's old friends Max & Linsey onboard - after all they were really the people responsible for him ending up in Port d'Andratx to begin with.

Dancing in Palma

... much more time shopping then I would have so I kept darting off to explore some of the side streets while they were debating with themselves on what to spend their money on.

Later in the afternoon, I met up with Stee and we went to visit the Castillo de Belver, an unusual round fortress on the hilltop overlooking the harbor.

We didn’t have the change to visit another dance club on Thursday night since we departed Palma around midnight.

Another idylic Hollywood set

We arrived in Cala de Calobra around 5:30. We anchored in the small bay and took a tender to shore. The little village has a small pier along one side of a steep hill and the village is crowded on the hillside raising between two much larger and steeper hills. The whole thing looks like some Hollywood set because of its idyllic setting on the small bay. There are several bars and restaurants where we got drinks and ate an early dinner.

Valldemossa and Deià

... the beginning of the 18th century and served the entire town, is still in place. The photo can't capture the look of a room with all four walls lined with these old bottles and ceramic containers.

The Carthusian order was pretty severe. Monks lived in almost total isolation from each other. Most of their meals were provided to them through a small hatch that provided access into their cell so they had no contact with the lay brothers who ...

Starting our spring in the Mediterranean sun...

... was glorious in comparison to England's renowned drab, grey March weather, and feeling the sun on my shoulders sent a surge of serotonin coursing around my body. Oh, the summer! The island was hilly and smothered with lush green canopy. We drove straight from the airport to the quaint hilltop town of Valdemosa ...

The first family trip

Maths in the square at night, being awesome at the quiz, teaching it to swim, vodka and top trumps each night, the boy crying about play club, the boy loving play club, the convertible red beast (megane), fred dancing with me, all the AWFUL people that go to those places (us not included)

The Island of a Thousand Faces

... cobblestone streets, while eating the renowned Valldemossan pastry "coques de patatas". We treated ourselves to some from the pastry shop in a corner while we admired the traditional Majorcan architecture framed by the cascading tree branches, creating a sage green tunnel. Moving past the souvenir shops selling puppets, ceramics, postcards and hats we came across the Charterhouse (or a Carthusian monastery) famous for having lodged Frederic Chopin in the ...

my first holiday =)

i visit spain so often but I had my first trip there at the tender age of about 8 months! haha!

needless to say I can't remember that particular trip but the subsequent ones really hit the spot with me!

I love Majorca because it has something for everybody. Mad nightlife, beautiful beaches and scenery, lovely people and not as "high rise" as main land Spain.
