Arrived after a short uneventful journey. Campsite similar. Weather changeable.

Tourist sites do not always live up to the flowery language used in the brochures eg. "Musicological Nucleus of the Salt" turned out to be a Musee de Sel. We did not go.

The local beauty spots, like every where else, that we did go to were covered with ingrained litter.
We are moving on tomorrow.
Figueira da Foz, Beiras, Portugal mikeandsuecuff... plastic bottles around the edges. They were obviously expecting stormy weather. They left great heaps of rubbish all over the site.

We visited Aveiro the nearest town which lived up to its publicity we took the one photograph of their famous boats which was all the brochure had to offer.

We have become a novelty attraction as there are no other British around. After the activities of the weekend we moved on.

Aveiro, Aveiro, Portugal mikeandsuecuff... cafes. It's got one of those beaches that's so deep, it takes about half an hour to actually reach the sea, a bit like Southport, except that the walk is still there even when the tide is in! To facilitate all this walking it's criss-crossed with long boardwalks and even streetlights, and of course when you do reach the sea it's a lovely blue, unlike Southport! One day we drove the 35 miles to see the ...
Figueira da Foz, Beiras, Portugal oldagetravellerWe had our longest journey -should have been 7 hrs but turned out to be 10 after the highway was closed. We had lunch in Salamanca and I want to go back. Superb architecture and one of the oldest universities in Europe with signs of enlightened learning on every corner. We shared an amazing dinner of local fare ...
Figueira da Foz, Beiras, Portugal hollingers... And boy, we are glad we did not miss it. The Igreja da Santissima Trindade (Church of the Holy Trinity) here could easily be compared to the Vatican in Rome. It was simply awesome with huge grounds in the front & was lit up well. There was some Christmas ceremony going on inside.

Finally, we drove to Hotel Oslo in the University town of Coimbra. More than half ...
Coimbra, Beiras, Portugal savla78... downstairs. Sofia gave him some ideas about decor. Quite a few of the art work in the restaurant is from Sofia's mehndi. Then we headed to Serra de Estrla (mountain top), and on the way, had lunch at Museo de Pao (Bread Museum). Museo de Pao is a beautiful restaurant with wood and glass floors, a wooden wagon wheel with water running through and a view to die for. The lunch was a buffet with ...
Conimbriga, Beiras, Portugal pilleCoimbra (120 km Portost) asutati roomlaste poolt, seejärel linn kasvas ja arenes moorlaste käe all, peale neid elasid seal kristlased.

Coimbra, Beiras, Portugal pille... problem hammering them back but they didn't like it once you flattened them a couple of times but hey i can't understand French anyway so not sure if they loved us or hated us. We ended up playing about 4 games with them and some other teams as it is the first to score 2 goals or 10 minutes for each game. After this i was literally dead i couldn't walk, breath or talk. So i just lay where i fell to recuperate. Plus as i said astroturf feels so soft, well not when you get flattened on ...
Figueira da Foz, Portugal hastie... a friend, and on the bus we met two nursing students who live there. They were very friendly, took us to their house, fed us dinner, and gave us a place to sleep.

Now I'm in Coimbra, and I came here to see a forest. I should actually be going now to catch my bus. If this internet connection weren't so slow this letter would be longer. It took me a whole hour to read the 15 letters I had (50 minutes waiting, 10 minutes reading). More later
