    We treat ourselves to an excellent evening meal. I have a thick cut of veal and Mick has wild boar. Great sauces and a good local red wine.

    We arrive in Santander at 11:45. It is a lovely approach into the harbour. The town tumbles down the hills that surround the inlet. No sign of my bank though.

    The channel into the harbour runs past sandbanks to the east. They seem far too close for a boat this big. The town climbs up the hillsides to the west.

    Wandering around central Oviedo, we found ourselves in pretty plazas and ran into an array of striking modern open-air sculptures, the most memorable being a pair of legs topped by a pair of large buttocks, and a statue of Woody Allen. Allen expressed a particular affection for Oviedo when filming here for his 2008 movie Vicky Cristina Barcelona.

    ... we decided to try rough camping. There were a couple of areas close by and we chose the parking area next to the resoviour. We were first in but were joined by 4 other vans overnight.

    Next moring the cloud was down and it was emitting a heavy drizzle. Too damp to climb so we moved on.... another spot we will be returning to.
