... 2pm and we're all getting hungry, so we drive into the small town, which would have been the size of my palm I swear, and find a small restaurant. We head in and speak Spanish as we figure English is not going to be spoken here. They provide us a menu all in Spanish and John and Jenny ask the waiter if we speaks English, thats a big no. So we laugh together about how we are going to order food we actually like and understand what it is. Jenny and I stuck to something safe and ...

Lovely time. My supper (pasta, drink, a pack of 4 yogurts and apple) cost me just £2 from the shop but, unfortunately, with the honourable exception of the apple, it tasted it. Nice people, talked deep and meaningful, family and also some unpilgrimy thoughts on our ...

But as I'd taken in all the sites of Grado last night (took nearly 15 mins) I stayed in bed this morning and didn't leave until nearly 11am. This was necessary partly because someone seemed to have omitted to fit the windows with glass and so spent the night counting the passing lorries on the main ...

... going. The people are lovely. Lots of 'Buen Camino'. One lady came rushing out with a bottle of water for me. Suspect like trick or treat weekend, she had it behind the door but hadn't seen a pilgrim in weeks so tried to offload it! There are no pilgrims- I've walked 25km and seen one pilgrim, one unemployed man, two ladies walking their dogs and not a single shop. So arrived at Grado and found what my friend Tony Lander describes as ...
