We spent a few days in a cottage out in the country, in a lovely village near Venice, called Dolo. Dolo is only about 20 minutes on the train from both Venice and Padova, so really very conveniently located to do both cities. On our first day in Venice we did our customary walking tour, which was then followed with a gondola ride. Only 56,000 people live in Venice now, primarily because it is so expensive to buy property, ...

It was so good I recorded some on my phone. Walk back along the front beside the canal to,the hotel. Some reading in bed and the sleep about 11. Off to Florence ...

He too was helpful and gave me a map of Venice and told me how to get into the town and the ...

Our time in Venice has come and gone as quickly as it came, and our last day was nonstop, between the Basilica di San Marco and the island of Lido. We started our day off by making our way to the Piazza San Marco, where we waited in line to see the Basilica. The outside of the Basilica is stunning, with statues and arcs carved into the marble canvas. The inside is jaw-dropping, as the first sight you see are gold domes with amazing large-scale mosaics on the roof above you. We ...

... br> San Marco Basilica had incredibly detailed ceilings and walls made up of mosaics of gold, intricately designed tile floors and possibly hundreds of large marble columns decorating the interior and exterior of this ornate church. The boys were captivated by the exhibit of "Treasure" whereby they got to see chalices, crosses, and other religious artifacts adorned in silver, gold, precious jewels and exquisitely designed glass.
