Last day before I head home. Second lazy day. We have a late breakfast and then head out for a walk to the local shops to buy supplies for lunch; pane, formaggio and prosciutto. I go for a walk around the village, the first time I've done this this week. There are horses grazing around the village, the sun is out and it is lunchtime so there is no one else walking ...

It was great to see so many wonderful places but it is good to be back in the village. This afternoon we head down to Pontegrande for the wifi so I can upload my ...

Fairly early start again this morning, back on the road at 9. It was nice to wake up to the sound of the waves on the beach. We drive up the coast a bit, and the head inland to the small hilltop village of Montegridolfo. This is a walled village overlooking the countryside to the sea. It was a very important town during World War 2 as in 1944 it was the location of severe fighting between the Allies (British and Canadian forces) and the Germans on the Goti ...

... internet connection in Bannio so he often goes to a cafe or bar to access their wifi. Then we head down the valley to see his mother, Susanna and brother Giuliano. They are both pleased to see me again. I thought we were going to the same restaurant that we went to last time I was here, but instead we drive towards Lake Maggiore. As we drive around the lake it is clear to see how much rain they have had over the last week or so; all along the shoreline the ...
