As we drove closer to San Marino, we all started saying, "Did she REALLY say "the NATION" of San Marino?? And that's exactly what it was: It's full title is "The Republic of San Marino". We are on our last day in Rimini, and we're both quite glad of it. Not that we haven't had a good time (though the hostel has been a bit rubbish).

The journey down here from Munich was a real slog! It took 8 hours, though that didn't really bother us too much. 8 hours of discomfort on a cramped Italian train however, that was what made it difficult. It was a compartment style train (6 seat per compartment, 3 on each side facing each other) which seemed great when we first sat down ...

We got to Rimini later that night after Pompeii. It was another 6 hour drive so again we were exhausted. We checked into the hotel and it was perfect. Nicer than the last one we were at. We had booked in advance for the night and the rate was 30eros cheaper than the next night so we (I) thought we would just get there and tell them we wanted another night at the same price. Unfortunately they played me harder than I played them and said they had no availability ...

... until after that first group, the rest of the squad, 22 more guys ran onto the field. In contrast the Marines had 50 players on their roster.

I walked out with out captains as I had from the first game, but know I belonged in that group. We won the toss and deferred and we took the field.

There was ceremonial kickoff in which a former, famous trainer of the soccer team AC Milan kicked a ball and then it was brought back to me, and I started the game ...

so florence day 2. we wake up around 9am to head down for the free breakfast. not shabby at all! probably the best hostel food i have ever had. thats saying quite a bit because i think ive been to probably 15-20 hostels. god...the italian is great here. we checked out a fancy cathedral today...i forgot the name of it, but apparently its the one thing to do in florence other than checking out a statue which strikingly looks just like me and even ...
