Life is not a straight road. Things happen when you least expect it. Most will know how our road trip began but Optimus deserves a special mention, or perhaps a eulogy. Optimus, named after the hero Transformer 'Optimus Prime' (some may have to wiki this), was a wonderful Volkswagen Eos convertible whose roof mechanism was a display in itself. ... Massive ravines and turquoise blue riverlets at the base. We managed to find our way over the causeway into Venice. Hello Italy!!! OMG! The hotel parking was a great intro to the Italisn way of life! We had to go in the exit- yes that's right ! Boom gate ? Don't worry just pull over, cause a massive traffic jam! Give us your car keys- no way says Marky! We finally get in through the exit and the dodgy brothers who run the car park have cars jammed ...

... is an advantage if one speaks the language, luckily I do speak a bit so we could order a glass of wine and some food which was just great, the taste incredibly fresh and the wine was just local but great.

This was the only place in the village where actually one could wine and dine, so we were the only tourists, surrounded by the locals who were already checking us out from the moment we stepped in the place.

... not have reached our hotel as we would have missed the last train to Calalzo, so I did take the seat. The lady that was helping us then proceeded to fight for her rights for a seat so that she could continue to assist us to get to our destination. Eventually 2 young men got off for the lady. I felt really horrible now and as somewhat grateful I could not understand what the people around me were saying. With the lady's assistance we did make it to the final ...
