... between some of the small unfenced paddocks and fruit trees near the house. It seems flat around Padova with occasional ditches to help drain some fields. Around Vincenza, the soil is darker, there are hills in the north but it is still flat and the grapes are now in one or two acre lots and look like the main agriculture. Verona is our next stop. It seems like a fairly industrial city but we are soon back in agricultural country with ...

... This is beginning to feel a bit like the book “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie.”

We finally got into Venice, but we had an unexpectedly great time procrastinating first.

Starting at the beginning, the coffee and a snack was the first highlight worth writing about. We stopped at a trattoria that’s just about a 5 min walk from the house. The woman who owns the place lives upstairs, and the restaurant is basically her living ...

... figure out which dock to get on I heard a guy giving away complimentary trips to Murano. It was a promo thing but it was a free taxi to the island and a glass blowing display. Its Sunday and the production facility is closed so I guess this is their way of getting in on the weekend tourists. The taxi was cool, much faster then the vaporetto, and I could stand at the back to get some great pics (I hope) of the Venetian coast line.

We get to the glass production facility ...
