    Race Day

A travel blog entry by legoodtimesroll on Jul 10, 2015

... we found Graham easily going through his pre race rituals( which means multiple visits to the toilet) It was soon time to put on the wet suit and join the other GB old boys. Although all competitors there is a commaradery between the group of about 10 "old boys" which were the last wave to go off. They paraded from their pen to the start line and into the beautiful clear water of Lake Geneva. 5,4,3,2,1, and they are off. Graham is out in front , well ...

... and I would have to pay again. Anyway with Graham in charge "the operation tandem on roof" went very well and we got out of the car park and back to the tranquility of the campsite. Three tents now set up, on our pitch this is what you call "family camping" . Sarah and Duncan arrived at 10 30 Graham having picked them up from the airport. Not too late a night for the travellers and the triathlete who was going to be up ...

... until 10. We occupied ourselves for the morning, it was very quiet I think all the other campers thought it too cold to get out of bed. We had an early lunch and set off to Geneva for Graham to register and meet with the old boys in his age category. The sun emerged after lunch and soon it was a comfortable 28 degree temp. Geneva was just so busy, the traffic horrendous and parking ridiculously expensive. It was great for people watching, ...

    Speyer to Geneva

A travel blog entry by legoodtimesroll on Jul 07, 2015

Having a very noisy road outside our open window wasn't ideal, but we managed to sleep OK. The previous campsite had been under the flight path for Luxemboug Airport. I wonder what tonight's campsite will have in store? We had breakfast included with our room so we were nearly first there at 7.30 am so we could make an early start. There was still gear tweaking to do but we waved the tandem riders off at about 9 am and we drove off at the same time. 5 minutes later we stopped at ...

... with your-choice-of-height water jets (my favourite was more like a small waterfall and poured on your shoulders, perhaps a bit massage-like). The hot pool was similar but indoors. The sauna (dry heat) was really nice. Apparently I enjoy baking myself (strictly in the temperature sense). The hammam was full of tea-tree scented steam, so actually seemed nice and cleansing. I ended up doing three rounds of these before the snippets of Alp view drew me back outside to see ...
