... colours of the trees and the brilliant green of the grass was amazing.
E failed to get any lunch as we discovered that 11:11 is a bank holiday in France and everywhere was closed! So we arrived at the hotel at 5:00 pm and were starving! We checked in and the owner kindly provided us with pate and bread and a glass of red....perfect!
... up to the Chateau and then around the old Medieval center a bit before popping in to the Cafe de Ducs. We had a beer, a glass of wine and a snack, all with a canal side view of the Thiere, the main canal, and the Palais de l'Isle as the sun set over the town.

... almost aqua it was so pure and clear. There were white swans and many ducks swimming in the lake, and we saw the canals filled with little old rowing boats. We got some great photos and were so glad we went back for a second look. This afternoon we went for a drive the whole way around the lake, and it was beautiful. We can't believe it is our last night in France!! We are going to Switzerland tomorrow and look forward to seeing where Amandine & Sam live in ...
I miss the 9.08 train by a couple minutes, and get on the 10.34 one to arrive in Aix-les-Bains slightly before noon. This gives me time to double-check Eurail workings in France with a helpful train station worker. I get to Aix-les-Bains after a scenic one hour train ride, and eventually wait for the bus on the correct side of the road and find my hostel. It's a pretty adorable hostel from the outside.
