It was an old village, at one stage completely surrounded by a massive moat , and we had a stroll around there for a few hours before cycling back to grab a table at a nice restaurant over-looking the lake, and only a stone's-throw from "home". Good meal, and into the sack only to be awoken a couple of hours later by a big storm that had blown up and had to get up in the middle of the night and take-down ...

When we did our final lovely walk around Spello tonight we met an old Italian gentleman who was keen to talk and tell us about his life and his family. He also told me that my Italian is good and I don't have a Benevento ...

We both woke up feeling fairly average and as the visibility was low decided to do the dreaded laundry. What a palaver! It cost about €20 when it should have been a lot less as the instructions were confusing. After a long search for the best gelato in Bolzano- which was closed we settled for an early lunch and vino. Feeling better we tackled the oldest cable car in the world (1908) on the other side of Bolzano. The views ...
