... we were there for the whole afternoon and ended up coming away with two bags of lollies! They even started throwing out kitchen sponges just for fun.

Of course if you wanted something then you had to reply to the carnival salute of ahoy, which is the local greeting here. In other areas it's helau. And I was the only person in the crowd who spotted the two drunk Bananas in Pyjamas from the local ski club! Some cultural references just don't travel well!

Also most shops are especially made for tourists, esp. for Asian ones. Asian employees work in the shops and there are Asian letters on the windows. That at least to me is a definite turn off as after all it is Heidelberg, a town famous for its history, culture and university. I guess though that everything changes over time.

Our time on this fabulous trip is coming to an end and the days are just flying by this especially becomes more obvious when you spend most of your days on the bus as we have for most of this day.
We left Lucerne early morning on our way to Germany. The scenery has changed from beautiful mountainous Switzerland to more rolling hills but not so green Germany. German houses are beautiful, adorned with lots ...

... including the Codex Manesse, which is as old as the library itself! It is basically a book of poetry, albeit the best of its kind, with beautiful middle ages illustrations.

The building that now houses the library (Uni Bib for short) isn't very old. It was only built in 1905, but is quite spectacular and unique. There is a free exhibition inside, so even if you ...
