    Day 5: Germany

Day 3 of our tour saw us travel from Amsterdam to Germany. After a few hours on the coach we arrived in Boppard, where we were able to walk on the banks of the Rhine during a bit of free time. The weather today has been awesome so we grabbed an ice cream and admired the scenery. After our free time finished we got onto the Rhine cruise to St. Goar. The cruise had the option to buy some food or drink so I decided to try a ...

... who also had a trailer (very popular with German cyclists) so was the longest bike we've ever seen! We cycled on flood dykes all morning meeting a very angry German a few times who said the signs were dreadful so he kept getting lost, we'd been ok today so might just be his generally **** sense of direction but thought better not to mention it! ... because I had to get back by 11 to catch the train to Heidelberg. I went pass the Haus Zum Walfisch ( house of the whale) with its late gothic bay window, this was once the house of Erasmus of Rotterdam . We traveled to day via two IC trains to Heidelberg, in less than two hours. We are staying in a guesthouse/ really a hotel just a few minutes walk from the Altstadt / old town. Heidelberg is famous for a number of reasons; the longest pedestrian area, which ...

We ended last evening with dinner along the Neckar River which is a few minute walk from our hotel. A quaint German restaurant with all the traditional fare Germany is known for. We ended up sharing an entree which was perfect. The beer was great as well.

We woke up after only a few hours of sleep, but made it back to sleep and woke up fairly late (for us anyway), and had a leisurely breakfast here in the hotel. We ...
