I was a little surprised at how bright it was at 4 in the morning, but it made it a little easier to drag ourselves out of bed and drearily walk to the Keleti train station. It took us over half an hour to get there, and once we arrived at the station there was absolutely nothing to do. I made sure we were there pretty early just in case there was a snafu with getting tickets, but that turned out to be surprisingly simple so we just sat on a bench and stared at the wall until the train ...

Today was a failure. We headed out for breakfast, it was a beautiful morning, about 1 degree but very sunny. Our tram cancels a stop early for a reason only explained in german so we go for breakfast at a nearby cafe. After a good night's sleep we are lazing along on the river. We are just entering the first lock. Made it through the lock and now resting after a walking tour of Bratislava. Off to an early start with our hosts children up early for school, breakfast then off to drop the youngest child off to preschool and as Schoenbrunn Palace was nearby we got a lift as well.

The grounds are quite extensive and we were advised to start off at the bottom and walk up and it was a great suggestion as we walked through forested areas with lots of squirrels which we tried to take photos of but as you know with squirrels No food No photo.

We said our goodbyes to Masha and Malak and headed up to Bratislava Castle.
From here we checked out the view over the city before heading back to our room to make toasted sandwiches….the simple pleasures in life!!
