    The Glacier Express

A travel blog entry by a.baker.abroad on Jun 08, 2015

We woke early in Zermatt to check out, take in one last look around the beautiful little town and jump about the famous Glacier Express train along UNESCO heritage railways to our final destination of St Moritz. Along the way there was endless picturesque scenery from snow capped mountains to summer green fields and typically Swiss towns all along the route. The town of Belliago is considerably larger than ...

We are staying on the eastern side of the lake ,so we are looking across the water to the Alps and beyond to Switzerland. So in the evening while we are having a wee drink the sun sets over the mountains leaving its ...

... And by "experience", I mean, get close enough to its base to feel its power. Along the way up, I pass a group of campers. These aren't ordinary campers, though. They've formed a circle, beating on drums as one of them goes into a trance as the others repeat a monotone chant. One of them reaches the hold up the entranced fellow as he's about to collapse. Clearly there is some spiritual/religious ceremony, this young group is involved it. And they couldn't ...
