Just when we thought Venice was the most beautiful place we would visit in Italy, Varenna may have beaten it into second place. Neither of us can get our heads round the fact that we are actually seeing what's around us. The apartment is amazing and the views from the balcony alone are worth the trip. Claire has also befriended a blind cat so we keep having to think of excuses to go and see the lady so Claire can rub the cat.

... br> We caught the 3:00 bus back to Lezzeno and our apartment where Kathy continued her on-going cribbage winning streak over Jerry. Jerry fixed a small dinner with the few ingredients in the fridge before settling into to some reading for the night. All in all, very relaxing day.

No pictures today to accompany the blog. It would have been a lot of duplicate shots already captured.

The abbey is home to a monastic community which dates back to the 7th century. The abbey itself was built sometime in the 15th century and the church attached to it was simple but beautiful and was all set up for a wedding. ...

... the growl of a nice V-2 bike. Probably a Harley. As the guy flew past, I gave him a "Yeehaa" and he took off like only a Harley in a tunnel can. About 500 m straight of pure full-throttle harley-in-a-tunnel bliss that makes your ears tingle and breaks the smallest kidney stones, provided you have some.

I think Stef just heard a loud motorcycle.

But she probably could've told me it was a V-2 if ...

... graffiti, and many people. There are tv antennas and trees, lots and lots of trees and plants. It smells different too. Lots of rain creates lots of moss and mildew, everywhere! Everything feels alive and awake. Because of a recent heat wave with rain the air is humid and very warm. Mosquitos are out now too. Livio says they are tiger mosquitos from China, big and aggressive!!! We are looking forward to a cooler week!!! Our little house didn't ...
