... the old city walls. The history on the island has been dated back 2500 years ago and had numerous conquerors and occupiers in its day - the Romans, the Turks, the Italians, the Germans, the British. The Dorian Greeks built the massive fortress and with a protected harbour it remained impregnable through many sieges. The Colossus, for which Rhodes is famous and was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, was built to honour the sun god Helios and was located near to ...

We however did the remainder of the hike by the road. It took us about 1.5 hours including time at ...

We walked back to the ship and saw the Queen Elizabeth docked next to our which held several thousand people and dwarfed our cruise ship. I don't think a bigger ship would be any better and personally I prefer exploring new places than staying on the ship and ours had good food and plenty to do.

We even came across the first McDonalds we would see in Greece. We reached Lindos beach and the medieval castle overlooking it when everyone was leaving for the day. We still ended up spending a nice hour with Marc swimming and me lounging by the sea.
