Hate It.

This is by far the worst airport on the planet. Granted I have only been in four non-US airports in my life, however it lacks the basic functionality that makes travel an enjoyable experience.
There was no food. We arrived from our six hour flight at 6 am Paris time and having six hours to kill before our connection, we thought is prudent ...

French Lessons, Jardin de Luxembourg, and Crepes

... of weeks off while we meet Monica in London, then start up again if all goes well. Walked over to the Jardin de Luxembourg. Picked up a bottle of wine and ate a jambon and frommage crepe along the way. Thought we'd sit on the grass and drink a little wine. Fortunately, we looked around first--no one was sitting on the grass OR drinking wine! Checked out the info board and saw that there are only certain areas where you can sit on the grass. And decided not to ...

Bonjour et Bienvenue à Paris !

... I'll have to add later, as I'll have to google them (our tour guide's French accent was a bit strong and her voice was very quiet a lot of the time.

From there, we went to the Eiffel Tower. Wow. When I booked this tour, one of the selling points was a champagne lunch at the Eiffel Tower - "beat the queues!" the website said. And, boy, did we ever. It was insane; honestly, the largest line to see an attraction I've ever seen. I'll ...

It's been a while...

... where we'll spend two nights, then from Munich to Salzburg (sight of the Sound of Music!!!) where we'll spend one night, then from Salzburg to Vienna for 3 nights and finally to Budapest for 3 nights then we'll fly back to Paris from Budapest. We ended up purchasing a student train card which cost around $60 but ended up getting us discounts which saved us around $150. Altogether, our transportation is actually only costing us around $350. We have yet to book our accomodations but ...

... the homeless people samples as well. I thought that was very thoughtful. I'm sure Mme. Thenardier was grateful for some carbohydrates to soak up the alcohol she had already drunk by 8 am. We all travelled to the chapel of the miraculous medal, which was in an unique neighborhood and a bit difficult to find. But after that, we decided to go off shopping while my aunt went off to Versailles. However, we learned the huge summer sale started tomorrow in ...

Best of Paris in One Day!

... by David. The audio commentary was interesting as it reminded us that paintings can't always be assumed to be factual representations. This one, for example, included people that were not even present that day...including Napoleon's mother! Once we made our way out of the Louvre, we took the boat to the Champs-Elysees stop. Walked by the Grand and Petit Palis and down the Champs-Elysees a few blocks, got some ice cream and got back on ...

J'adore Paris

... one evening, we got off the metro one stop too early, and found ourselves in the ghetto of Paris. The metro stop was different from all the others because it was entirely surrounded by metal gates, like we were in jail, and to get out we had to go through special doors, but we decided not to go out, especially since as soon as we came up out of the underground on the escalator, we were bombarded by people giving out flyers and trying to sell little flashing ...

La Tour Eiffel et Les Invalides

... of the tour with some random Japanese man in front. Oh, well. Emmanuel is a very animated guide and I enjoy listening to him talk about the history of the places we are going and the history of France. It is apparent how proud he is of his country and heritage and I enjoy his enthusiasm. We stop at Hotel des Invalides for photos and a bathroom/snack break. I am frustrated by the wind and ...

Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous

... told us about. Beaulieu - Sur -Mer. We got a cracker park on the waterfront and spent the night exploring the harbor (full of more huge boats) and walking along the water front taking in the ambience of the art market, the cafes and restaurants and also watched everyone playing boulle (you know the game like bowls with the steel balls). Day 266 - Monday 20th November - Monaco and Monte Carlo This morning we set off on the train to Monaco and found that even their train station is flashy ...

Barcelona and Paris

(NOTE: I have no idea what's gone wrong with my map. TravelPod has messed up somehow and I'll see if they can fix it.) (NOTE #2: I gave the wrong country code in my phone number. The correct number is +34 666 696 194. Please do call.) Arrived in Paris yesterday after a very satisfying couple of days in Barcelona. After I finished up Madrid, I caught an overnight train to Barcelona, arriving 7:30am. Met a Georgian (the state, not the country) in my ...
